While there are no “breed standards” for this mix that clearly define estimated heights and weights, Schnoodles are typically classified into four sizes

  • Toy: Cross between a Miniature Schnauzer and a Toy Poodle.
  • Miniature: Cross between a Miniature Schnauzer and a Miniature Poodle.
  • Standard: Cross between a Standard Schnauzer and a Standard Poodle.
  • Giant: Cross between a Giant Schnauzer and a Standard Poodle.

How Big Do Schnoodles Get?

Toy Schnoodles will grow to be 10-12 inches in height and weigh 7-15 pounds as an adult.  Mini Schnoodles will grow to be 12-14 inches in height and weigh 15-30 pounds as an adult.  Standard Schnoodles will grow to be 18-22 inches in height and weigh 30-50 pounds as an adult.  Giant Schnoodles will grow to be 20-25 inches in height and weigh 50-80 pounds as an adult.

Mini Schnoodles may look more like a Poodle or more like a Schanuzer depending upon the percentage mix of Poodle to Schnauzer dependant on the generation. Mini Schnoodles have a compact, square build with a soft, wavy coat with eyebrows and a beard. They come in many colors including black & white, salt & petter, white, black phantom and brown phantom.

How Big Do Mini Schnoodles Get?

Mini Schnoodles get to the height of 12 to 15 inches (30.5cm to 38.1cm) at the shoulder when fully grown. They are slightly taller than a Toy Schnoodle.

When Do Mini Schnoodles Stop Growing?

Mini Schnoodles stop growing between 7 and 10 months of age. At around 6 months they are nearly at their full adult height and for the oncoming months they build up their muscle mass and weight.

How Long Do Mini Schnooodles Live?

Mini Schnoodles live for 12 to 16 years. As a small dog size and also a cross breed, they have a long lifespan as they have a reduced risk of carrying genes for illnesses specific to the Poodle or Schnauzer breed.

Mini Schnoodles do not shed much at all and are classified as low shedders. Both the Miniature Poodle and the Miniature Schnauzer are light shedders, so it is not a surprise that their puppies also have this trait. It is important to note that no dog can be totally non-shedding and a Schnoodle is one of the breeds that comes very close to that definition.

Mini Schnoodles cost between $1500USD and $4000USD depending on the breeder. As they are a smaller size of Schnoodle, they have a higher price range. Smaller sized dogs of a high demand at the moment as they are considered cuter and are also more suited to urban living in an apartment than the Standard or Giant sizes.

Are Mini Schnoodles Hypoallergenic?

Mini Schnoodles are classified as a hypoallergenic breed as they are low shedders and produce a minimal amount of dander. Both the Miniature Poodle and the Miniature Schanuzer are hypoallergenic so all Mini Schnoodles, no matter the generations (F1, F1b etc.) are hypoallergenic.

Note: When looking for a hypoallergenic breed, it is important to look for low shedding dogs as they won’t release as much dander (dead skin cells) that irritate allergy sufferers as other breeds.

Mini Schnoodles are very easy to train as they are so intelligent. Both the Poodle and the Schnauzer rank highly for the working intelligence and obedience list, ranking 2nd and 35th respectively out of 138 dog breeds.

Do Mini Schnoodles Bark A Lot?

Mini Schnoodles have a tendency to bark much more than larger sizes of the breed. They have a very protective nature so when they feel that their family is under threat, they will bark to warn them. While this does make them a good watchdog, it is important to train them out of this habit at a young age.

A Mini Schnoodle should have a small sized crate. The best way to measure a Mini Schnoodle for a crate is to measure the length from their nose to the base of their tail, then add 2 or 3 inches for the crate measurements.
